Self-Monitored Wireless Alarm Systems - Monitor yourself and save thousands!!!

Alot of people don't like security systems, dealing with putting the pin code in before the alarm starts sounding can panic people.

But in the long run a working security system can keep you so much safer when you are home and also protect your belongings and everything you have worked hard for when you are out!

Our wireless alarm systems are the best out there for the price range. Of course you can go and spend thousands on a top notch brand that you may get an extra year out of. But we find our systems highly competes with the high price tag products, in quality and the features. We even like to think we may have more features. And then there are the monitoring costs to consider.

Our wireless alarm systems can be self-monitored (saving you thousands over the years) or if you do prefer the use of a monitoring company the option is there to do that too. Simply enter your monitoring details into the panel and easily program it to suit your needs.

We have done some calculations on monitoring costs. It is interesting to see really how much money you can save monitoring your wireless alarm system yourself.

Monitoring companies all over Australia vary in price and are all different, so we will use averages over a 3yr period.

Monitoring Company
$1 a day, for 365 days a year = $365 a year.
$365 for 3 years is $1,095
Just on monitoring for your alarm system.

Self-Monitor your Alarm System
$5 for a start up SIM card (including $5 of credit - see example) plus the cost of sending a text message or a phone call, when someone has violated your property. Which isn't likely to be very often (or never, hopefully - but always better to be safe then sorry). OR if you have an existing phone line, your cost is nothing! You will only pay for the phone call when your alarm has been violated.

You do the sums? Do you want to pay for monitoring even when you arn't using it or needing it? Or would you rather pay as it is needed?

If you choose a long 365 day expiry SIM card then your credit will last you the entire year, without needing to top up at the end of each month. So unless you have other alerts set up on your system, you won't use much credit at all.

Another great bonus about having a self monitored alarm is that you can send your wireless alarm system text messages to arm and disarm. Say you are on your way to work and you forgot to arm the alarm, no worries.. Simply send your alarm a text message and it will reply telling you it has been armed successfully.

Our wireless alarm systems include a GSM dialer. If you have researched your alarms, you would realise that this function alone can cost you around $600 or more.

We have jam packed the best features and only the highest in quality and design to provide you with The Protector Series. Australia's No.1 wireless alarm system. Only available online and comes with a 2yr replacement warranty, money back guarantee and free technical support.

Home Insurance Alarm System Guide

An alarm system doesn't replace home insurance but it is another good line of defence to protect your home and contents. In ‎addition, premium discounts on home contents policies are available to home insurance companies ‎that voluntarily install a monitored alarm.‎

A wide range of alarm systems are available in Australia: if you are in the market to buy ‎one it helps to understand what features are available. The core components of an alarm ‎system are the control panel, detection devices and sirens (or sounders). In addition, you ‎can connect your alarm to a remote monitoring service or have it SMS you if it is triggered.‎

The control panel allows you to set and unset the alarm and some support zones, letting ‎you secure different parts of your home. The control panel connects to the detectors to ‎monitor your home and sound the alarm if necessary. They feature back -up batteries and ‎often include tamper switches in case someone tries to subvert them or cut the power.

Detectors come in all shapes and sizes. When opened, doors or windows fitted with magnetic switches or contacts will trigger the alarm. Other detectors can monitor for shock or vibration - such as window glass breaking - and motion. Passive infra-red (PIR) detectors monitor changes in infra-red (heat), such as someone entering the area the PIR covers. To avoid false alarms, detectors sensitive to pet movement are even available.
Home alarm systems can feature indoor or outdoor (or both) sounders or sirens. A siren outside your home is a visible indicator to would-be thieves and can alert your neighbours of an intrusion. An indoor sounder will let you know if someone has entered your home while you are there.

Be aware that sirens can only sound for a limited time. For example, since 1997, alarm sirens installed in NSW must stop within 5 minutes. If you think that will not be enough of a deterrent, you can opt for back-to-base monitoring. In these systems, a home owner pays a fee or subscription, often by the month, to have security guards react to alarms and in some cases, escalate the situation to police or even the fire department. SMS alerts are an alternative to back-to-base: a text message will be sent if your alarm is tripped, but you will need to respond yourself. However, this is a big money saver.
People who move often and DIYers are good candidates for wireless systems. Nevertheless, ‎while wireless DIY systems may seem an attractive option when you see low-cost kits ‎everywhere, a reputable alarm fitter will know the best places for fitting detectors, for ‎example to prevent false alarms, and can fit and test your system to ensure optimum ‎operation. And finally, make sure you choose suppliers and systems that meet both State ‎and Federal standards.

Australian Security Systems have reputable and very experienced security technicians available to help you through the installation and guide you in the right directions over the phone. Let’s take a look at how having an alarm system in place can have additional benefits to your home, safety and can also be a fun factor with some features to play with.
Personalize your security system with equipment like PET detectors for letting your loving pets roam free without your alarm triggering.
Or perhaps you’d like a state of the art colour touch screen for ease of use, and to have additional features on the keypad such as recording audio messages, or lighting automation etc.
You can have a separate part of the house (zone) armed so that the rest of the house isn’t armed which is a really handy feature to have, just like when you need the late night toilet stroll. It could be armed separately the rumpus room, garage, study, or a room with valuables that is fair distance away.
Backup battery is another prominent factor to look out for; this will give you the comfort feeling just in case there is a power outage in your street or town.
In-built mobile phone dialer is an extremely useful benefit for having an alarm system in place, where you can immediately get notified via your mobile phone when your system is triggered, or has been disarmed.
This can have you at the forefront of your homes security, so if someone is triggering or disarming you get the heads up first.
If you really want to be feel safe and secure you can also consider utilizing 24 hour back to base alarm monitoring.
This is a great way to secure your home if you’re going away on holidays, knowing your home is protected by a 24/7 alarm monitoring service that can handle call outs effective immediately if necessary.
So to round up, here a quick checklist for your next security system installation:
• 24 hour back to base alarm monitoring

DIY home security and safety

We are excited Better Homes and Gardens is doing a full story on DIY home security and safety. It launches in a few weeks on TV, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled. We thought why not do our own tips and tricks to keep your home secure whilst we are waiting for it to air.

Let's turn the burglars in the wrong direction. Try these tips to deter thieves and keep your home safe of a night or your home safe when you go on holidays.

1. Keep your valuables in a safe place away from the main bedroom. Burglars are usually on a tight schedule and will target the most obvious places. Have a box of your valuables in your childs bedroom. They usually don't touch kids bedrooms.

2. If you are going away, ask your neighbours to collect your mail. Burglars try to go for the easiest place to rob.

3. Sleep with your car keys next to your bed. If you hear a noise press the lock button on the car and the lights will flash scaring anyone away.

4. Put window locks on your windows, or cut up some dowel long enough to put in the window tracks behind the window.

5. If you are going away, leave a light on that is visible to the street. This way it looks like someone is up of a night.

6. Leave a radio on whilst you are away. The sounds should deter thieves.

7. Have a lock chain on your main door, for extra security of a night.

8. If you have one of our DIY wireless alarm systems, turn the alarm onto 'stay mode' of a night to arm all of your door and window sensors.

9. If you have lots of trees or shrubs around the entrances to the home, think about cutting them back. Burglars tend to go for homes that have low visibility from the street.

10. Test your security system is working correctly every few months (we dont want the neighbours ignoring the alarm because they hear it so often - so even pre-warn them). Burglarize yourself by arming the system and going outside for 5mins. Walk back in and make sure it picks you up.

11. Talk to your neighbours. If you are going away let them know to keep an eye on any weird activity.

Most importantly don't be afraid, just be prepared.
